This application helps reduce the number of polygon used in rendering a 3D model.
VizUp Streamline enables you to reduce the number of polygons in a complex 3D model. When using accurate models for complex objects in virtual reality or gaming environment it is necessary that the objects can be rendered in real time. In these environments the objects assume different positions and they need to be rendered quickly enough. In a scene containing several objects the processing demand becomes unmanageable. One solution is to reduce the number of polygons used in creating each of these objects yet retaining the reasonable accuracy in the look and feel of them. This tool helps do that. The end result of the reduction should be a 3D model with a well-balanced level of details and size, which is perfect for the use in virtual reality and real-time visualization systems. The process of reduction is extremely simple and doesn`t require much technical savvy. VizUp automatically picks all necessary parameters without any manual intervention required. The tool will support Wavefront, OBJ, VRML2 and StereoLitho (STL) file formats.
The application compresses the model for all possible ratios at once. So that you can simply pick the one that looks best, no iterations are necessary. You no longer have to restart polygon reduction each time for 10%, 20%, 30%, and other ratios. The tool deletes some vertices when compressing, but retains the co-ordinates of all the other vertices so that you do not face any problems with texture mapping operations. If you are into these VRML/gaming space this could be a very useful tool.
